The 20^th annual 4th of July Butterfly count to be held on July 7 will be organized by Rose Marie Stortz. Please call her at 683-1676 if you want to participate. The count circle covers the same 15 mile area as the Christmas Bird Count. This year marks the 33^rd count for NABA – North American Butterfly Association. There is a $3 charge for each person to defray printing and program costs. Garden watchers are encouraged to report their sightings but are not charged the $3 fee.

A second count circle has been established centered just north of Midkiff by Allen Wemple and Bill Edwards. Allen has set  the date for that count on Saturday June 30th. Please call him at 697-8118 to volunteer.

Please consider adding one or both of these butterfly counts to your calendar. They are fun and informative. You don’t have to be a butterfly expert to participate.
