At the general meeting scheduled for May 12th, at Sibley Center, 6:30 p.m., the Board will presentproposed changes in the way the organization conducts business.

1. Proposed revisions of the by-laws are posted on the Midland Naturalists’ website at www.midnats.org and should be down-loaded by those planning to attend the meeting. Those without accessto a computer may contact a board member for a copy. Reasons for the revisions will be explained to those at the meeting on May 12th and all members present and in good standing will be asked to vote on the revisions.

The proposed changes will be posted on the website prior to the May 12th meeting.

2. A major change is the proposal to make our fiscal year coincide with the calendar year, which affectsthe way up-coming renewal dues will be paid. Currently our fiscal year runs from August 1st to July 31st of each year with dues to be paid in July for the year. The Board proposes that new or renewal members pay $5.00 in dues in July, 2008 to cover August 2008 through December 2008. A new dues schedule hasbeen passed, including a life membership, and will cover the calendar year January 1st through December31st, 2009. All new and renewal members would then pay annual dues on the newly adopted schedule by December 31, 2008 to cover January-December 2009.

3. Current officers and board members will be asked to extend their terms of office to December 31, 2008, when board members and officers elected at the annual meeting will take office.
